Moe's Original BBQ

Moe's Original BBQ serves Alabama-style barbecue--but it's newly open in Midtown, so you don't have to drive across the state border to get it.

What is Alabama-style BBQ? The meat is smoked over white and red oak. The sauce is a combination of Kansas-style spice, Georgia-style tomato, plus a hefty splash of North Carolina-style vinegar. There's also a white sauce intended for poultry.

You can get a combo plate to sample various meats, such as pork, chicken and turkey:

Side options include baked beans, vinegar-marinated cole slaw, mustardy potato salad, vinegary collard greens and mac & cheese: Several other side specials are available each day.

Bottom Line: Clean restaurant with a sports-bar vibe has very nice owners. The meat is quite tasty. When it comes to the sauce, either you like vinegar or you don't. If you don't, get your order To-Go and sauce things up at home.
